There is alternative options to installing solar on your roof. Ground mounted solar systems typically costs 4-10% more than roof mounted solar systems for obvious reasons. A ground mounted solar system adds additional scopes of work to a project which increase the over all job cost. Those additional scopes of work include trenching, auger of post holes, cement poor, and additional metallic racking components.
The first step to installing a ground mounted solar system is to grade the land where the racking system will be installed. The second step is to auger post holes, which will hold the racking system up. Once post holes are made pipe is laid north and south in the middle of those holes, and cement is laid to hold the pipes. From there the rest of the racking system is assembled on the feet of the posts coming out of the cement post holes. The rest of the system is installed like a normal roof mounted solar system.
